Barbara E. Carleton Graduate Scholarship
This scholarship supports graduate students pursuing research activities in the area of botany, geology, birds and/or water. The research activity must have a field research component.
The following examples provided by the donor are intended to give an idea of the kind of research the donor hopes to support. Areas of support could include, but is not limited to the following:

- Determining the survival rate of chicks born in nesting sites in padlocks grazed by cattle versus bison in the Grasslands National Park
- Documenting the decline of song birds in Prairie Grassland environments
- Uptake of a particular toxin by reeds in a wetland
- The environmental affects of large dams on the distribution of Cottonwoods in Southern Alberta
This scholarship may be renewed for one additional year at the discretion of the award committee, so long as the student has undertaken field work during the first year of the award and will also be completing field work in the second year.
