William Dixon Indigenous Graduate Scholarship

This is not an application to be completed by the student. Rather, nominations come from the Department Heads and Graduate Chairs through a nomination package including a letter of support and the nominee’s CV. Nominations will be submitted directly by the department to gradstudies.awards@usask.ca by the deadline. No further action is required in the Awards Hub.

This scholarship assists departments in their recruitment efforts of First Nations (status or non-status), Metis, or Inuit person of Canada students in either a Master’s or PhD program. Students need to entering a new program of study in September of the application year.

  • Master’s nominees must meet the minimum standard for first-class standing, which is a grade point average of 80%, equivalent to the University of Saskatchewan grading system on the last 60 credit units of the undergraduate degree or the cumulative average of a Master’s degree.
  • Doctoral nominees must meet the minimum standard for first-class standing, which is a grade point average of 80%, equivalent to the University of Saskatchewan grading system, for their master’s degree.

    Only Indigenous candidates will be considered for this award. Verification of Indigenous Membership/Citizenship with documentation is a condition of receiving this award. Verification of Indigenous Membership/Citizenship at the University of Saskatchewan is led and determined by the  deybwewin | taapwaywin | tapewin: Indigenous Truth policy and Standing Committee in accordance with the processes developed to enact the policy.
